John is a member of Priory Chapter. As a former Deputy Lord Prior (Establishments) and Sub Prior, John brings international experience to decision making processes.

From 1993 to 1999 John was Chancellor of St John NZ and prior to that spent six years as chair of the Northern South Island Region. During that period he also served the Priory for eighteen months as Receiver General.

His entirely voluntary involvement with St John began in 1952 as a Youth Member. Subsequently he undertook a full range of operational activities before gradually moving into administration and governance roles.
