Nic has been an active member of St John for the past 45 years having joined as a cadet. Her roles have included: Operational Volunteer, First Responder, Paramedic, Volunteer Team Leader and Volunteer Team Manager, Nursing & Medical Team Lead for Northern Region, National Youth Competitions Liaison Officer and Regional Competitions Chair, ROAC member and Regional Honours Committee member.
Nic’s longstanding involvement with St John combined with her background in healthcare gives her a wide perspective of both the organization and community needs. In her day-to-day profession she is the Nurse Unit Manager/Operations Manager of a large and busy Intensive Care Unit; this role requires excellent people management skills, service delivery, resource management, innovation and a strong commitment to quality and safety.
Nic is also a member of the MOH, New Zealand Medical Assistance team that can be deployed to support local health services in major emergency or disasters in NZ or the South-West Pacific.
For 23 years she has travelled to the Palestinian Territories with a voluntary medical team to undertake children’s heart surgery while assisting the local teams to develop and grow their own services with a long term view to self-sufficiency.
