By using a defibrillator and doing CPR you can increase someone’s chances of survival by over 44%. This is because CPR helps to keep the person’s vital organs alive whilst the defibrillator shocks the heart back to a normal rhythm.
The probability of survival goes up dramatically when CPR is performed and when a defibrillator is applied before an ambulance arrives.
Our goal is to improve the accessibility of defibrillators to be available for use by every day New Zealanders.
The more accessible defibrillators out in our communities and the more confident people are in using them, the more likely a person will survive a cardiac arrest out-of-hospital.
