Being able to provide first aid can save a life. If it's knowing how to do CPR, what to do if someone gets burnt, how to respond to someone with mental health concerns, or stopping a child from choking.

First aid is in our DNA
Every year, around the motu, we're helping more and more people to step up with the skills and equipment they need to give lifesaving first aid in their community. You'll also see us at community and large-scale events throughout the motu, providing reassurance and an expert hand through our event health and first aid services.
We supply quality first aid products to workplaces and homes, and you'll find our AEDs at maraes and communities throughout the country.
We can help with everything from basic first aid training to more specific courses such as child first aid for new parents, or mental health first aid. Even doctors and nurses come to us to upskill and refresh their knowledge. Last year, over 90,000 people attended our courses.
In the past 12 months, 140,000 more tamariki (children) and rangatahi (youth) have learned resilience, confidence and life-saving skills through our programmes in schools and in the community – these programmes will continue to grow.
Why train in first aid with us?
NZQA + more
We offer a range of NZQA-accredited courses; we're a member of the NZ Resuscitation Council (NZRC) and the Association of Emergency Care Training Providers (AECTP). We also help workplaces meet the requirements of WorkSafe and the Health and Safety in Employment Act.
NZ's leading tutors
Our experienced tutors hold pre-hospital emergency care qualifications or higher, and most are involved in ambulance work. Our tutors love what they do and want to pass on their skills to as many people as possible.
It helps everyone
We're a charity organisation, so all profits from our world-class courses and products go towards supporting our community programmes.
You choose where and when
We have training facilities across the country - but we can also come to you, whether that's at your office, local club rooms, community hall, or wherever's easy for your group to meet. With our online courses you choose when and how you learn.

Mental health first aid training
We may not always consider mental health as first aid, but in moments of mental distress, getting help quickly can be just as crucial as physical first aid. Our mental health first aid courses give you tools and strategies to help you look after your personal and professional mental wellbeing.
They'll also help you feel more confident about supporting others who are experiencing mental distress, whether in critical situations or day-to-day challenges.
These courses are ideal for anyone aiming to boost their personal mental fitness, understand mental health challenges, and support wellbeing in their workplace.
