HATO HONE ST JOHN HONOURS OUTSTANDING SERVICE AT AUCKLAND INVESTITURE

Gerard Campbell |

An Investiture ceremony recognising the exceptional contribution of Hato Hone St John volunteers and staff was held in Auckland over the weekend (4 October).

The Order of St John Honours system confers membership on those who have given distinguished service to the organisation and their communities, to help fulfil the mission of Hato Hone St John in Aotearoa New Zealand: To prevent and relieve sickness and injury, and to enhance the health and wellbeing of all New Zealanders.

During the ceremony on 4 October, 21 individuals were either admitted into or promoted within the Order, across the grades of Member, Officer, Dame and Knight.

The Investiture service was presided over by Hato Hone St John Chancellor John Whitehead CNZM KStJ, and honoured volunteers and staff across a wide range of roles within the emergency ambulance service, Community Health programmes, support services, and governance.

Hato Hone St John Priory Secretary and Head of Order Matters, Christine Benson, DStJ, says Investiture services are among the most significant events in the organisation’s calendar.

“Order of St John Honours are royal honours sanctioned by His Majesty King Charles III. It is always a privilege to recognise the remarkable contributions of our members who so generously give their time, skills, and dedication in service to others. These ceremonies acknowledge the heart of our organisation – the people who make a difference in communities across Aotearoa New Zealand every day.

“This Investiture is a time to reflect not only on the outstanding achievements of those honoured, but also on the legacy of service and commitment that has shaped Hato Hone St John for more than 140 years,” says Ms Benson.

Hato Hone St John extends its gratitude to all volunteers, staff, donors, supporters, and partners who continue to uphold the organisation’s values and ensure its services remain strong for the future.
