St John can confirm it is responding to an incident on Morven Ferry Road, Arrowtown involving a hot air balloon after receiving a 111 call from a member of the public at 9.54am.

We have dispatched two helicopters, four ambulances, a manager in a first response vehicle and a First Response Unit to the scene. We have assessed and are transporting 11 patients in minor to serious conditions to hospital:

2 status 2 (serious) patients are being transported to Dunedin hospital by helicopters;

1 status 3 (moderate) patient is being transported to Lakes District Hospital by road ambulance;

8 status 4 (minor) patients are being transported to Lakes District Hospital by road ambulances
