St John street collections attracting the great and intergalactic

Ian Henderson |

St John staff, volunteers and supporters were out and about across the country last week collecting for the Annual Appeal.

Our street collections are the most visible ways we ask for support and donations from the community.

We also have some very colourful people supporting our work, and sometimes a passing All Black will lend his support as well.

On Friday 11 April St John team members from Regional HQ in Christchurch were collecting at Raeward Fresh in Harewood Road when who should drop by but Rugby World Cup-winning captain Richie McCaw? The lucky collector was Acting Community Programmes Manager Lisa Cowie.

Members of the Outpost 42 team came along on Saturday 12 April and collected with St John Youth Cadets and Leaders at Westfield Riccarton Mall in Christchurch. The ‘Star Wars’ aficionados are well known for their charitable activities, including regularly supporting St John. Here they are with Bishopdale Cranmer Youth Divisional Manager Brenda Columbus.

Thanks to all those people who gave up their time last week to collect for St John during our Annual Appeal.
