ASB’s popular toy ambulance back for a second year
ASB’s St John toy ambulance campaign returns to help put another ambulance on our roads.
The block-set ambulances are available for $15 at ASB branches across the country from Monday, December 12 2016. ASB aims to raise money to go towards purchasing another fully functioning, fully equipped ambulance to benefit St John.
Last year’s successful campaign saw ASB customers turn block set toy ambulances into a much needed real ambulance for Canterbury.
To date, the ASB-funded vehicle has responded to more than 1,270 incidents, transporting more than 780 of these to a treatment centre in the local Canterbury community.
ASB head of community, sponsorship and events Mark Graham said ASB was delighted with the public reaction to last year’s ASB St John toy ambulance campaign.
“ASB customers really got behind the cause for St John last year. In fact, one ASB customer was so inspired by the campaign he donated enough of his own money to purchase both a St John ambulance and a rapid response vehicle to service the Northern region,” Mr Graham says.
“We hope New Zealanders support St John again with this year’s campaign. Not only is it a great way to show support for St John, Kiwis can look forward to seeing a brand new ambulance on the road and know they played a part in making that happen,” Mr Graham says.
St John Director of Commercial Services Peter Loveridge says the ASB St John toy ambulances were a sought-after Christmas gift last year.
“After last year’s successful campaign, St John is thrilled the ASB St John toy ambulances are coming back this Christmas. St John is grateful to both our partner ASB and the wider New Zealand communities for their ongoing generous support. We need more ambulances on the roads to service our communities and this campaign is a big step towards making that happen,” Mr Loveridge says.
The ASB St John toy ambulance comes in a box containing assembly instructions, stickers and 101 small parts (not suitable for children under 3 years of age). The toy is 12.7cm long x 5.5cm wide x 7cm high.
The ASB St John toy ambulances will be available from ASB branches from December 12, while stocks last.

- ASB staff volunteer on St John Area Committees, at local St John events, or as Caring Callers
- ASB staff contribute to the St John Annual Appeal fundraising
- Every ASB branch has an AED
ASB host AED and CPR workshops across the country.
