What we do
Regionally we have 5,600 paid and volunteer members delivering emergency ambulance services, first aid training, events first aid, Caring Caller, Friends of the Emergency, free health shuttles and our Hato Hone St John Safe Kids programme.
Key statistics
In a typical year, St John ambulance crew travel nearly seven million kilometres throughout the region. The region's 111 service handles more than 800 111 emergency calls a day and our medics treat more than 160,000 patients a year - that’s one patient every 3.2 minutes!
To do this we maintain a cohesive service through our 173 ambulance and operational vehicles and 45 ambulance stations located throughout the region. Local fundraising for our buildings, vehicles, equipment and community programmes starts with our 32 area committees which are run by volunteers.
Hato Hone St John at events
Hato Hone St John also provides first aid care at 2,800 community events every year, including Round the Bays, the Auckland Marathon, ASB Polyfest, Paeroa Battle of the Streets and the Rally of Whangarei.
First aid skills save lives
We teach first aid skills to 18,500 people just like you every year. Hato Hone St John tutors have the advantage of first hand trauma and emergency experience through our Ambulance Service so you can feel confident the training you receive is the best.
