We first started as a voluntary organisation and still today 70% of our workforce are volunteers. So, we mean it when we say they're the lifeblood of our organisation.
They're a mighty team of 8000 amazing people doing important mahi in all sorts of different roles from driving health shuttles to teaching first aid, helping in our retail stores, and visiting people in care homes. We couldn't do the mahi without them, and we are always keen to see that our volunteers enjoy the benefits of their involvement too.

Types of volunteer roles
We have a range of volunteer programmes and many different roles. Everything from ambulance operations to event health services, Friends of the Emergency Department to community education and more. We even have a role for our four-legged friends as part of our Therapy Pets programme.

Celebrating our volunteers
Some of the ways we acknowledge the hard work and dedication of our volunteers include:
Volunteer Team of the Month: Each month a team is chosen to be Volunteer Team of the Month and they receive a $200 prezzy card to celebrate as they wish as a team.
National Volunteer Week: We celebrate this every June, highlighting our volunteers, providing giveaways and more.
International Volunteer Manager Day: Held every November, celebrating our team leaders and managers of volunteers all over the world.
International Volunteer Day: We love joining in with this worldwide celebration of volunteers every December.
