What will I learn?

3 Steps for Life is designed to give all New Zealanders the confidence and awareness to take action when someone suffers a cardiac arrest outside of the hospital, including (1) Calling 111, (2) Starting CPR and (3) Using and AED. Applying CPR and using an AED can increase a patient’s chance of survival by up to 40%.

Why should I do 3 Steps for Life?

Over 2,000 people in New Zealand suffer a cardiac arrest outside of hospital each year, and most of these happen at home. Of these only 1 in 10 will survive. Performing CPR and using an AED is easy and you can help save a life.

Can I book a session for my community group?

Absolutely, we recommend a group size of 10 and above, but no group size is too big or too small! We can deliver sessions at your school, community group, or chosen venue. If you are unable to provide a venue please let us know

Do I get a certificate for attending?

No, this is not an accredited course, it is purely an awareness session to help build confidence performing CPR, and finding and using an AED. If you are looking for an accredited first aid course, please see our first aid training courses.

Is 3 Steps for Life suitable for children?

Is 3 Steps for Life suitable for children? A 3 Steps for Life session is suitable for children aged 12 and over as CPR is quite physically demanding. If you are interested in your children or students learning life-saving skills, we run a free St John in Schools programme for children aged 5 – 12

Can I book a session for my workplace?

3 Steps for Life is for local community organisations, schools, maraes or whānau. If your workplace requires CPR or first aid training, we have public and private first aid training courses available in over 100 locations across New Zealand.
